And I hope hope hope to have a big review of our trip done soon. And then I have to figure out how to tell all of you that this new blog exists. Good.
Also! We didn't raise quiet enough funds to cover our trip so if you've got $5 laying around you want to send our way.. please feel free! :)

Home.
We're back home now in Minneapolis. Our plane landed in Chicago on Wednesday. We spent a couple of days visiting with family and then headed back home on Friday. Today Tyler went back to work and life is back to normal. Within the next couple of works, hopefully before I begin my new job, I hope to get together a big post about what we did in Uganda including photos and everything. Give me some time though... I'll try to hurry!
Merry Christmas snow,
~emma.

We have a new updated letter which I will post in a couple of days.
Whats up?
We got married on Sunday! So I am now Mrs. Tyler Fiala which is kinda crazy. So we will be traveling to Uganda as a married couple. Although all of my information will most likely still say Emma Sron until we return from the trip. I would need to have EVERYTHING changed for the trip and I'm afraid something like the passport might take too long so waiting may be a better idea. Although I'd have to say that kind of stinks. My first passport was stolen along with all of my stamps and now I"ll have to give up this one, along with all of the sames, for one with my new name. I can't help but be a little bit sad. Stamps are cool, ya know?
With the wedding and all Tyler and I have really taken a big break from spreading the word about our trip, unfortunately. Now that its over I plan to go crazy telling people in the next few weeks. Tyler's parents have been quite helpful though in getting fund raising off the ground. We've been able to chisel away at our place ticket costs but still have far to go.
We have decided that the first few days/week of our wedding will be our honeymoon. Going on suggestion from Ben Tumuheirwe (the director of Juna Amagara in Uganda and our wonderful wedding officiant) we are going to stay on Lake Bunyonyi. After that we will travel here to help with this.
I just received an update email from Juna Amagara. Construction has halted on the project in Kishanje because of a lack of funding. Its currently 65% completed but cannot finish. A generous anonymous donor has committed to giving $20,000 to JAM if that same amount can be raised by December 1st, 2007. I know that Tyler and I are fund raising to visit the folks at JAM, but if you could help them out as well that would be wonderful. Reaching $20,000 by December 1st, 2007 is much more important than us covering our plane tickets and rent while we're gone - although we do need and appreciate the help. :)
If you haven't already and you are interested in donating or just sending us a friendly little letter, our new address is:

letter #1
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” ~ Acts 1:8
Dear friends and family,
We are very excited to share with you a unique opportunity placed before us:
On November 1st we will be leaving for Uganda. Uganda is located in eastern Africa, just above Lake Victoria. Uganda has been involved in an intense civil war for over 20 years now and as you may already know, has received a great deal of media attention over the past few years. Poverty and hunger problems span the entire country and many families live on less than $2/day. Many Ugandans have a great desire to see their lives changed for the better and a hope for a better future for their nation, but they are continually in need of help. They need encouragement, training, funds, and most of all the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.
We will be traveling to Mbarara in southwestern Uganda where we will work with Juna Amagara Ministries (JAM) [amagara.org], returning home on December 11th. Juna Amagara’s vision is to save lives afflicted by sin, disease, poverty and civil strife and to facilitate prosperity and productivity of saved lives. JAM has a Children’s Home located in Mbarara that houses over 40 children who have lost both parents and provides them with basic nutrition and medical care, schooling, counseling and fellowship. JAM works directly with the community in Mbarara and Kampala (Uganda’s capital) by providing ministry and occupational skills training. They also take short-term trips into villages to spread the gospel message through evangelistic assemblies and vacation bible school. We will work in whatever area has greatest need at our time of arrival at JAM.
This will be Emma’s second trip to work with JAM in Uganda as she spent a few weeks there last August working at the children’s home. As with most who visit Uganda, she fell in love with the country and its people. The visit surely sparked inside her a passion for world missions and an inner conviction to return to Uganda. Emma has also been involved in inner-city missions and other projects in the US, such as The Lazarus Project [projectlazarus.org] and The Christian Appalachian Project [chrisapp.org].
This will be Tyler’s first trip to Uganda. For several years, Tyler’s desire has grown to work in overseas missions and he is excited to finally have the opportunity to follow through with what he believes God’s people are called to do. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). We recognize that this is what we are called to do (Acts 1:8).
We are asking for your support in our endeavor. We need your prayer. Please pray that our trip be fruitful and safe, that God provides us the means to pay for our travel, and that God continue to be working through JAM in
We also ask for your financial support. Our plane tickets together will cost just under $3,000. We will need to raise that much for our plane tickets, $200 for food, and an additional $1,000 to cover the costs of our rent and utilities, cell phone bills, and college loan payments while we are in Uganda. Please take time to think and pray about this and feel free to ask us any questions. Any financial assistance that you can provide us would be greatly appreciated. We ask that you please partner with us in prayer and financial aide today to help advance God’s kingdom in
Feel free to stay updated with our fund raising and what we are doing while in
Sincerely,
